MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough on Wednesday accused most of the Republican Party of wanting to “change the US government” and “take back American democracy”.
Noting that “mainstream” conservatives talk about “the need to root out the FBI’s tyranny,” Scarborough asked why nearly 40% of Republican Party voters supported a change of government “because a moderate from Delaware won the presidential election.”
“I would say we’ve done a great job together as a country,” Scarborough said. “And the Republicans helped Ukraine. Look at the law we passed – we did a great job passing a bipartisan law. This Compromise Act was passed by all Democrats. But still, you’re looking at legislative achievements. You can see how we are united as a nation around Ukraine. Look at the fact that the United States is once again leading the defense of democracy in Europe.”
“With these measures, the US is performing better than ever before. But, I can say, a small part of the Republican Party… The dominant force in the Republican primaries, but about 38.39% of the voters want to change the US government. [and] “Those who want to destroy American democracy,” he said.
