On Tuesday, unidentified gunmen shot and killed a Mexican journalist in the coastal state of Guerrero. This is the third murder in August and the 16th in 2022. Press freedom organizations are now calling this year the deadliest for media workers in Mexico.
Guerrero’s Attorney General said two gunmen shot and killed Fredid Roman Roman in Chilpancingo on Tuesday afternoon. Roman was a longtime journalist, broadcasting weekly La Realidad
The killing occurred when two gunmen on motorcycles approached Roman while he was riding in his red Mazda sedan.

Press freedom organizations see Mexico as one of the deadliest countries for journalists. Activists also describe 2022 as the deadliest year on record. Organizations say most crimes against journalists in Mexico go unpunished.

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador continues to say that impunity is over, despite the large number of journalists killed this year.
This murder is the 16th of its kind documented by Breitbart Texas in 2022.
