In doing so, the filmmakers softened a bit of the definitive backlash from the mainstream media, their henchmen, and dozens of people who still see Joe Biden as the greatest man since sliced bread.

If this movie were presented directly as a chronological drama, it wouldn’t work. The fantastical, more bizarre than truly fictional nature of the events depicted is so brash, so smug, so witty and self-parodying that it almost begs for satirical commentary.
