Darren Aronofsky accused of being ‘fatophobic’ for portraying Brendan Fraser as obese gay in ‘The Whale’

New movie directed by Darren Aronofsky WHALE Actor Brendan Fraser has been accused of being “fatophobic” because he is an overweight gay.

AND WHALEAccording to the movie’s IMDb page, Frazier, who wears a fat suit and other prosthetics while playing his character, plays a 600-pound gay man “who tries to reunite his estranged teenage daughter for one last chance at redemption.” The film was screened at the Venice Film Festival recently and reportedly received a standing ovation of more than six minutes.

“No matter how well a thin actor plays a fat person in a dramatic role, he can still pull off that fat suit and make the most of his socially acceptable physique. They get compliments for being fat when it suits them, but they can shed that skin whenever they want.” says Charlotte Colombo of The Digital Fix.

However, Colombo admitted that the attacks on the film were inevitable because it could be detrimental to the actor’s mind to choose an actor who actually weighs 600 pounds for a role where the character “eats himself to death”.

Writer Aubrey Gordon echoed these sentiments and tweeted: “So self-explanatory that the fact that so many people are simply ‘humanized’ in the media shows us that they’re doing exactly what they’ve been waiting for: living short, small lives; “eating ourselves to death”; feelings of sadness and regret.

“All the reminders of how tragic it is to be fat and how good it is to be thin,” she added.

Gordon wrote to another Twitter user, “I get goosebumps when I think about how many people will leave the theater, mixing their feelings of self-pity and humility with obese people’s newfound understanding of humanity. ”

Another Twitter user wrote that simply watching the movie would “harm me and others”.

“I love Brendan Fraser so much and want him to enjoy the glory of his comeback, but do I really think watching a Fatphobic Dehumanizing Movie would hurt me and others?” using twitter Wrote.

“I really want to support the return of Brendan Fraser, I hope it’s not in the form of a giraffe movie” – else tweeted out.

Comedian Guy Branum reacted to this by tweeting, “The most exciting part of the release of ‘The Whale’ is being able to read all the ways that film critics will put the full power of their BA English on the task of defining how great I am. There are bodies. !”

In a tweet, Branum shared an alleged screenshot of the film’s review: “Sloping jaws wrapping around his neck, a large wide back, and a giant jelly belly running down his groin, arms and legs like chunks of meat.”

Polygon screenwriter Katie Rife reacted to the film’s director by calling it a sadist, adding that it forced viewers to “find humanity under Charlie’s thick layer of oil.”

“It stems from the assumption that a 600-pound man is inherently unattractive,” Rife wrote. “The viewer walks away proudly for shedding a few tears over this disgusting whale before gaining a new understanding of what the whale really might be. This is not empathy. It is compassion hidden under a thick and odious layer of contempt.”
