Buckingham Palace officially recognizes Harry and Meghan’s children as Prince and Princess of Sussex

Archie and Lilibet, the children of Harry and Meghan Markle, are officially Princes of Sussex. The Daily Mail notes that the Royal Family’s website was updated on Thursday morning with the official titles of the children. Until then, Archie appeared in the line of succession as “master” and Lilibet as “miss”, a generic designation.

Title changes do not affect the place of children in the line of succession to the throne. Three-year-old Archie Mountbatten-Windsor maintains sixth place and one-year-old sister Lilibet is seventh.

William, the Prince of Wales and uncle to Archie and Lilibet, ranks first in the line of succession, followed by the children – George, Charlotte and Louis – who rank second and fourth, respectively. Fifth place is held by Harry, Duke of Sussex.

From the “last betrayal” to paparazzi images with no connection to the couple. Reactions to “Harry and Meghan”

The update to the royal family’s website comes after Harry and Meghan, who now live in California, argued that children should have the title, claiming it was a “birthright”. “Children’s titles have been their birthright since their grandfather became monarch. This issue has been resolved long ago, according to Buckingham Palace,” a spokesperson for the couple said.

Archie and Lilibet become princes with the death of Elizabeth II

The British press indicated that the issue of the titles will have been resolved during a “private conversation” after the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, last year. However, the time it took for the Royal Family website to update will have left the couple somewhat frustrated, sources close to the Daily Mail said.

Harry and Meghan baptize their daughter in California, but without members of the royal family

This week it was learned that Harry and Meghan baptized Lilibet in California, last Friday, in a ceremony in California. The kings and princes of Wales were reportedly invited but did not attend.
