To celebrate rice: with the aim of showing acquaintances and friends of the Plaza the diversity of varieties, specifically Ariete, Ronaldo, Caravela, Teti and Guadiagran, and terroir In Portugal, the Rice Festival is being held on 13 July at this restaurant in the Beato Innovation District. For lunch, there is sweet rice with Ariete from Bom Sucesso, sushi with Ronaldo from Rice Crafters, razor clam rice with Guadiagran from Cigala, and asparagus rice with snails with Caravela from Nova Arroz/Lusodem, priced between €4 and €7. For entertainment, there will be music and a talk “Caravela Rice – How the Portuguese Carolino was Created”, which will cover rice culture. For the little ones, there is also a workshop on the theme “Coloured Rice”.

To go to a star-studded dinner: Chef Vasco Coelho Santos will leave the Euskalduna Studio every Saturday in July to prepare a Michelin dinner at the Baccará Restaurant, in the Casino Espinho. Summer nights will be in the hands of the star chef, with a menu that was presented on July 6 and will be repeated this Saturday, July 13. To start, there are oysters in textures, followed by prawns with squid and curry naje, and suckling pig terrine with green bean rice. To sweeten the end of this hot night, a French toast and Queijo da Serra ice cream arrive at the table.

To go to a centenary party: With over 120 years of history, the Sebastianas are back to bring entertainment and music to the city of Freamunde for five days. The party started on Thursday 11th, but continues throughout the weekend with names such as Nel Monteiro, Tiago Bettencourt, Dillaz, Ana Moura and Moullinex taking to the stage. In addition to music, the Sebastianas also offer the “Noche de Bombos”, a free street with over 1,500 revelers playing the bass drum, fireworks and the procession in honour of San Sebastian. Ballet in Séteais

The ballet “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” will be presented in the Hotel’s Front Garden on both days, a world premiere based on the theatrical comedy of the same name written by William Shakespeare. To celebrate summer: What better than a party to celebrate a new cocktail, sangria and snack menu? This is the question that the Renaissance Porto Lapa Hotel is leaving pending as it organises Summer Euphoria. Scheduled for Saturday 13th, it will feature several live performances, a drag queen performance, synchronised swimming in the pool and electronic violinists. Throughout the event, there will also be a DJ set that will transport everyone present back to the 2000s. As for the new items, they will be available to taste: there is a caipirinha (€12), a mojito (€12), froggy B vodka (€10), Citadelle gin (€12) or aperol spritz (€12), to accompany the prawn gyosas with soy sauce and honey (€16), tuna sashimi with passion fruit sauce (€16) or pork belly bao (€15).

To try non-traditional readings: Port wine, citrus, apple and cinnamon, cocoa and spices are the ingredients that chefs Miguel Rocha Vieira and Ricardo Tiago used to create new sweets inspired by the Lérias of Amarante. Historically served as a dessert only on holidays or important meals, traditional lérias now give way, at Casa das Lérias, to these five exclusive sweets, which aim to enhance the Portuguese identity, both in the filling and in the sweet coating, originally made with sugar syrup. Each unit of Lérias and five exclusive candies costs €1.50, and there is also a box of 12 units (€15).

Lérias are one of the most famous convent sweets in Amarante and give their name to Casa das Lérias, a historic building from 1930.

Meat wine makers

To combine gastronomy with oenology: Until July 20, Pepper’s Steakhouse, at Tivoli Marina Vilamoura, will have a food and wine experience available, where haute cuisine meets oenology. Composed of five moments, this menu designed by chef André Basto and harmonized by Sogrape’s oenologist, Luís Sottomayor, makes each dish and each wine a joint discovery. These are crayfish with Iranian caviar, foie gras and seafood soup, paired with Vinha Grande White 2022, Wagyu, which then arrives at the table in harmony with Legado 2018, Elderberry, with white chocolate, paired with Série Ímpar Curtimenta, Brazilian Chocolate paired with Port Sandeman Vintage 200 and, finally, a Café Gourmand, where a macaron, a bonbon and a truffle accompany the Port Sandeman 30 Years.

Piano cycle at the Palaces of Sintra

Listening to piano in a palace: The new Piano Cycle at the Palaces of Sintra bids farewell to the National Palaces of Sintra and Queluz on the weekend of 12, 13 and 14 July with three recitals spread across three different venues. In homage to the musician and pianist Viana da Mota, António Rosado will take to the stage at the Sala do Trono in Queluz on Friday, followed by Luísa Tender at the Sala dos Cisnes in Sintra on Saturday, and Artur Pizarro, who will end on Sunday, again in the Sala do Trono. Tickets are available online. On recital days, guided tours of the Palace where the show takes place are offered. They begin at 5:30 p.m. and last approximately 1h15m.

Somersby out jazz

To return to Out Jazz: Music, heat and late afternoon? It is in Miraflores Urban Park in Oeiras that, during the month of July, Somersby Out Jazz will be held. The free festival in Oeiras began in May, in the Parque dos Poetas, and continues for the next three Sundays of the month with lots of jazz, funk and hip-hop.
