Today, Wednesday, the Portuguese health authorities announced the registration of 5 confirmed cases of monkeypox among young people, and the UK reported the registration of two new cases of the disease.

The Portuguese Public Health Authority indicated that it was also testing 15 suspected cases, noting that all cases were tested in the Lisbon capital area this month, explaining that all the injuries were among men, most of them young people.

Patients who were assessed as stable had skin lesions. Authorities have not said if they have had previous trips to Africa or if they were related to recent cases found in the UK or elsewhere.

And in Britain, the health authorities announced today, Wednesday, that they have identified two new cases of monkeypox, one in London and the other in the southeast of England, explaining that none of the injured had ever traveled to Africa and that it is likely that they contracted it in Britain.
