A dangerous virus continues to spread in European countries

The deadly “monkeypox” virus continues to spread after several European countries recorded cases, with France, Belgium and Australia reporting their first infections with the virus.

And French authorities discovered the first confirmed case of “monkey pox” in Ile-de-France.

And the Director General of Health announced that a 29-year-old man with no history of traveling to a country where the virus spread was infected, adding, “Once the infection is suspected, he is isolated at home.”

Belgian authorities have announced that two cases of the “monkeypox” virus have been diagnosed in the country.

In Australia, the first case of monkeypox was discovered in Victoria, Australia, for a traveler who had just returned from the UK, and the second “likely” case was discovered in New South Wales.

After the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, Sweden and Italy announced that they had registered a confirmed or suspected case of “monkeypox”.

In context, this virus was also discovered in the United States, where the Massachusetts Department of Health announced the discovery of the first case of “monkey pox” in the United States in 2022.

Monkeypox is a rare disease that often occurs in remote areas of central and western Africa near tropical rainforests.

The monkeypox virus is transmitted to humans from a variety of wild animals, but its secondary spread is limited by human-to-human transmission. There is no treatment or vaccine available to fight the disease.

The rare disease usually presents with fever, muscle aches, swelling of the lymph nodes, chills, fatigue, and redness of the hands and face.

Stating that it was “closely monitoring the situation”, the EU agency recommended that “suspicious cases be immediately isolated, diagnosed and reported”.
