Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Manlio Di Stefano said his direct superior, Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio, had presented a peace plan for Ukraine to the United Nations.
He said the plan requires the participation of various countries and organizations, including the European Union and the United Nations.
According to him, it is clear to everyone that resolving the crisis in Ukraine “can be achieved only through decisive diplomatic measures, but they must be coordinated and jointly at the international level”.
“Based on this understanding, Minister Luigi Di Maio, in close cooperation with the government, has prepared a peace plan that was presented at his meetings with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York,” said Deputy Minister.
Yesterday, La Repubblica wrote that the Italian Foreign Minister had submitted to the United Nations a four-point peace plan for Ukraine, which includes a ceasefire, Ukraine’s neutrality, international political guarantees regarding the negotiation process. EU accession, and a bilateral agreement between Kyiv and Moscow. On regional issues, especially in the disputed regions of Crimea and Donbass, as well as on the signing of a new multilateral agreement on the restructuring of international budgets, starting with relations between the European Union and Russia.
