US State Department spokesman Ned Price indicated that Washington “wants to conduct a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the murder of Palestinian American journalist Shirin Abu Akle.” He explained that “the US administration does not believe that the International Criminal Court is the appropriate place” to investigate the murder of Abu Akila.

In this context, Price indicated in a press briefing that Washington called on “Palestinians and Israelis to cooperate in the investigation into the murder of journalist Shirin Abu Akle.”

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry earlier announced that it had referred the case of the killing of Shirin Abu Akleh by Israeli forces to the International Criminal Court.

Israeli occupying forces killed Al Jazeera correspondent Shirin Abu Akle while covering the assault on the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank. Going back and breaking into the family’s home in Jerusalem and then attacking Abu Akila’s funeral during the funeral, sparking international condemnation and outrage.
