Gavish emphasized: “The dialogue should be based on the principle of mutual respect for the feelings of the two sides,” saying that he “discussed with his Israeli counterpart regional issues concerning both sides,” and explained that “the dialogue that took place at the level of two heads of state last Ramadan contributed to efforts to maintain calm.” Noting that “his country and Israel have agreed to resume technical meetings between the relevant ministries and government agencies.”

And he added: “We want to host more Israeli tourists in our country, and we know that Israeli tourists are very fond of Istanbul and Antalya, but I’m sure they will like the tourist areas on the Black Sea.”

In the context of talking about the Palestinian question, Gavish expressed his country’s “faith that a two-state solution within the parameters of the United Nations is the only way to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East”, stressing that he “informed Lapid of his country’s sensitivity to Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
