European Council President Charles Michel said that during a special European summit scheduled for May 30-31, “we will discuss specific ways to help Ukraine export its agricultural products using the infrastructure of the European Union.”

He added in a message to member state leaders on the occasion of the summit: “We will also see how to better coordinate multilateral initiatives in this regard,” announcing that African Union President Macky Sall would join the summit via video link. to discuss the topic, given the precarious situation of the countries of the continent facing the problem of food insecurity.

The President of the European Council warned of the consequences of “Russian military aggression on global food security, as food prices have risen sharply and we face a serious risk of famine and destabilization in many parts of the world.”

Michel said that the agenda of the summit includes the continuation of discussions on Ukraine and issues of energy, food security and defense. “We will review the situation in Ukraine at our first working meeting, and President Zelenskiy will join us via video link at the beginning of this discussion,” he added.
