The semi-official Tasnim news agency quoted Iran’s ambassador to Greece, Ahmad Naderi, as saying that Tehran expects to return all of the oil confiscated by Greece after a Greek court ruled overturning the original decision regarding the confiscation.

A Greek court had previously overturned a previous ruling in April that allowed the United States to confiscate a portion of a shipment of Iranian oil from an Iranian-flagged tanker off the coast of Greece.

In a message from the Iranian embassy in Greece via social media, Naderi indicated that “after vigorous follow-up, the Greek Court of Appeal will reverse the original decision to confiscate Iranian oil, and with God’s grace, the entire batch of oil oil will be returned.”

The incident drew an angry reaction from Tehran, as its forces seized two Greek tankers in the Persian Gulf last month after warning Tehran that it would take “punitive measures” against Athens.

Naderi said: “This issue will remain on the agenda of intensive consultations between the two countries until full implementation of the decision is confirmed.”
