The Syrian newspaper Al-Watan pointed out that “informed sources in Tehran reported that two tankers that arrived off the Syrian coast yesterday were the first signs of the activation of a new credit line between Iran and Syria.”
Sources, in response to a question from the newspaper, indicated that “the arrival of tankers will continue naturally according to specific schedules without delay, after the new version of the credit line is launched.”
The newspaper pointed out that “the delay that has occurred in recent months was the result of adjustments that took place in the mechanism of the credit line between the two countries after the formation of a new government in Iran, and sources indicated that the acceleration of the activation of agreements was one of the topics discussed by President Bashar al-Assad during his recent visit to Tehran, where the visit contributed to the resolution of the technical contract and the acceleration of the dispatch of oil supplies, and the two tankers that arrived yesterday are the first fruits of this visit, which will witness the expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries.
The newspaper pointed out that a source in the Oil Ministry confirmed yesterday earlier that Syria will witness a breakthrough in terms of petroleum products, including gasoline, diesel and fuel, from tomorrow, Wednesday, after the arrival of two oil tankers carrying almost two million tons of crude oil to the refinery.
