Israel’s Energy Minister announced that a memorandum of understanding had been signed from Cairo to export Israeli natural gas to Europe.

Israeli Energy Minister Karen Al-Harr announced that a memorandum of understanding had been signed in Cairo authorizing the export of Israeli natural gas to the European Union.

This is after the Israeli Ministry of Energy confirmed that Israel and the European Union will sign an agreement for the export of natural gas at a regional energy conference in Cairo today.

Noting that “the agreement will, for the first time, allow a“ major ”export of Israeli gas to Europe,’ the ministry noted that “the framework of the agreement will be signed between Israel, the European Union and Egypt. ”

The European Union assessed that “it could be a new source of gas at a time when Israel wants to reduce its dependence on Russia’s energy”.

Officials said they expect “Israeli gas to be sent to liquefaction plants in Egypt and then sent north to the European market,” according to the Jerusalem Post.
