Former United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has revealed new details about the assassination of Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force.
“The US government has heard warnings that if it kills General Qassem Soleimani, it will lead to war,” Pompeo told Al-Arabiya.
He added: “But these are the same warnings I heard when I left the nuclear deal and moved my embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

“The United States killed Qassem Soleimani because he was ready to protect the American people,” Pompeo explained.
He pointed out: Soleimani intended to kill 500 Americans and the US government was able to overthrow this plan, which was actually carried out.
He continued: “The United States monitored the movements of the Quds Force and continuously worked on the project of killing Soleimani until it had the opportunity to stop the impending attack on resources, assets and citizens.”
He added: “That is why former US President Donald Trump decided to remove Soleimani.”
“The United States has been working for a long time to protect its assets in Iraq and its citizens in Syria and around the world,” he said.
It is reported that on January 3, 2017, two Hellfire missiles targeted Qasim Soleimani, who was accompanied by Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes, the deputy commander of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization, immediately after leaving Baghdad airport.
And at dawn on January 3, 2020, the Pentagon announced an air strike near Baghdad International Airport that killed Qassem, commander of the IRGC’s Quds Force. Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Al-Mohandes, Deputy of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization, and others.
