Snake Island is “free” again, the president of Ukraine said on Wednesday, on a day marked by the withdrawal of Russian troops from the emblematic place that has become a symbol of Ukrainian resistance.
“Zmiinyi is definitely the main word today”Zelensky defined, referring to the Island of Serpents, as it is popularly known.
The territory was under Russian control practically from the beginning of the invasion, but Ukraine announced on Wednesday that the Russian army had finally left the place.

In the usual daily communication, the Ukrainian leader reinforced that, although the Russian withdrawal does not guarantee that the “enemy” will not return, it does “significantly” change the situation in the Black Sea.

In his speech he also addressed the situation in the Donbas region, where the news is not so optimistic. He denounced the difficult conditions in the region, where the Russian military superiority is strong.
The President also took the opportunity to thank the United States for the new support package dedicated especially to defense, which guaranteed that it will soon be at the forefront “for the defense of freedom.”
