Iraqi President Barham Salih, during a meeting with US Senator Lindsey Graham, emphasized the importance of “reducing tensions in the region and defusing crises through dialogue”, and also emphasized “the importance of continuing to work and coordinating actions to combat terrorism and eradicate its roots in the entire region, cooperation in combating economic fluctuations and helping to recover Iraqi funds smuggled out of the country, in addition to cooperating to combat the phenomenon of climate change and protect the environment.

For his part, Graham reaffirmed “the commitment of the United States to maintain the security and stability of Iraq and to establish close relations in various fields.”

During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them in the political and economic fields.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazemi also discussed with Senator Graham “security cooperation and capacity building for the Iraqi security forces.”

Iraqi parliament speaker Muhammad al-Khalbusi also discussed with the US senator “the strengthening of bilateral relations and ways of their development in the economic, cultural, educational and security cooperation spheres.”
