The United States space agency (NASA) revealed the first full-color image from the James Webb Space Telescope on Monday evening, and US President Joe Biden said there were “pictures of places no one has seen before”.
Biden and his running mate, Kamala Harris, received a report from NASA officials on the image, described as the longest and deepest image of the cosmos in history, after which the full set of images will be released on Tuesday morning. US local time
Biden said: “For the first time, we will see color images of the universe and we will see how galaxies are born.”
And NASA announced earlier that all four instruments that make up the James Webb Telescope are ready for use.
Scientists are counting on this telescope to help them study the origin of the first galaxies in the universe and compare them to present-day galaxies, how the solar system formed, and the existence of life on other planets.
???? A sneak peek at the deepest and clearest infrared image of the early universe ever taken – all in a day’s work for the Web Telescope. (Literally, it took less than a day to capture!) This is the first image the web has released. #Opening the world: https://t.co/tlougFWg8B pic.twitter.com/Y7ebmQwT7j
