The six additional Caesar guns promised by French President Emmanuel Macron in mid-June are on their way to Ukraine, French diplomat Catherine Colonna announced on Tuesday.
Until now, 12 of these guns have already been delivered Caesar and six others are now on their way to Ukraine, Colonna told the Senate Foreign Affairs, Defense and Armed Forces Committee in Paris.
The French Foreign Minister did not specify the expected date of arrival on Ukrainian soil of this weapons reinforcement that had been announced by the French head of state on June 16, during his visit to kyiv.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, Paris has delivered to kyiv, in addition to Caesar guns, Milan anti-tank missiles and Mistral anti-aircraft missiles.
At the end of June, the Minister of the Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu, announced that France would continue to send “significant quantities” of armored vehicles.
The French government also promised to deliver anti-ship missiles, requested by kyiv to “break the maritime blockade imposed by Russia and which deprives many countries of grain deliveries.”
France has fully complied with its commitments, even if we speak less than others. We choose not to communicate our entire military contribution,” Colonna said, explaining that she prefers to reserve this information for her allies.
