Moldovan Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita expressed her country’s fears, which border Ukraine, about a possible Russian invasion. “We are concerned, of course, that this is a risk, this is still a hypothetical scenario, but if the fighting moves to the southwestern part of Ukraine and towards Odessa, then the risk will be real,” she said.

In statements, she stressed that “Moldovan authorities are very concerned, especially given that Russian forces are present on the territory of the Transnistrian region”, noting that “Chisinau is doing everything in its power to maintain peace and stability and ensure that Don’t escalate the confrontation.”

And Gavrilita believed that “this situation is very difficult not only for Moldova, but also for any small country, any country that depends on the international rules-based system”, noting that “if a country can start an annexation war without any international law, no one is safe with that value, and I think many countries are concerned.”

It should be noted that the Moscow authorities support the region of Transnistria, which wants to secede from Moldova, since Russian troops are stationed in this region.
