The federal government has acknowledged that it has ordered some travelers to be quarantined by the app, although it wasn’t actually necessary due to a glitch in the ArriveCAN mobile phone app, which was supposed to be used when entering Canada to approve vaccines against the Wuhan virus. .

After returning from a trip to the United States, Don and Karyn Bennett said they received an email from the app saying that they needed to be quarantined even though they were both fully vaccinated.

Audrey Champoux, spokesperson for Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino, admitted that there was a “technical glitch” in the ArrivaCAN app and that the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) had identified the problem and is working on a solution.

Many travel and tourism industry experts, such as Beth Potter, President and CEO of the Canadian Tourism Industry Association, questioned the effectiveness of the ArrivaCAN application.
