The White House announced that US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping will hold a telephone conversation within a few hours.

He explained that “the call will take place between 12:30 GMT and 8:30 U.S. time,” noting that “this is the fifth contact between the two leaders since President Biden took office.” He stressed that “at the end of the conversation, a statement will be made.”

And on Thursday, July 21, Biden said he “expects to speak with Chinese President Xi Jinping Xi in the next 10 days.” White House press secretary Karen-Jean-Pierre told reporters: “As you know, the leaders recently had a conversation. Biden and President Xi Jinping were the last to speak. However, I am not yet ready to announce anything in the context of new contacts.”
