The Foreign and Border Service (SEF) reported on Monday that since the conflict in Ukraine last February it has granted 49,405 temporary protections to Ukrainians or foreigners residing in the country, including 13,409 to minors.
In a more recent balance, the SEF adds that since the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, the total number of temporary visas, 29,762 were for women and 19,643 for men.
The municipalities with the highest number of temporary protections granted continue to be Lisbon (10,475), Cascais (2,965), Porto (2,344), Sintra (1,691) and Albufeira (1,247), he specifies.
Regarding residence authorization certificates under a temporary protection regime, which contain the health, social security and tax identification numbers of the user assigned by the respective entities, the SEF it has already issued 40,926.
Regarding the temporary guardianship of minors (13,409) granted, these are divided into two categories, accompanied and unaccompanied.
In the case of a child accompanied by a parent or accredited legal representative, there is no request for intervention from any other entitywhile the unaccompanied minor, in the presence of a person other than his father or accredited legal representative, but without current or imminent danger, there is communication to the Public Ministry (MP) of the geographical area of residence declared to the SEF, for the appointment of a representative legal and possible promotion of a child protection process, explains that body.
In the case of an unaccompanied child, in the presence of a person other than the parent or accredited legal representative, but in real or imminent danger to the life or serious impairment of the physical or mental integrity of the child or young person, the Commission is immediately contacted for the Protection of Children and Adolescents (CPCJ) in the area of its competence, to adopt urgent procedures and provide adequate assistance”, says the SEF.
In the case of an unaccompanied minor left alone, that child is considered to be is in actual or imminent danger and CPCJ is contacted immediately area of its competence, adopt urgent procedures and provide due assistance.
Since the beginning of the conflict, the SEF has already communicated to the Public Ministry the situation of 725 minors who appeared in the presence of a person other than their parent or accredited legal representative, without actual or imminent danger, and to the CPCJ 15 alone or in the presence of persons different from their parents.
