“The West is repeating the Ukrainian scenario in the Taiwan issue,” TASS quoted Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui as saying.

Earlier in the day, Chinese authorities released a document titled “The Taiwan Issue and China’s Reunification in a New Era” jointly prepared by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China and the Press Office of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. People’s Republic of China in the White Paper, which is regularly published to clarify Beijing’s policy on various issues.

She noted in the book, “Attempts to achieve independence for Taiwan will only push the island into the abyss of disaster and cause serious damage to Taiwanese compatriots. To protect the common interests of the Chinese nation, including Taiwanese compatriots, we must resolutely oppose Taiwanese partition and independence, and promote peaceful reunification.”

She noted that Beijing is “ready to create a wide space for peaceful reunification, but we will not leave room for various forms of separatist activities to achieve Taiwan independence.”

The situation around Taiwan has escalated following a recent visit to the island by Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, the first speaker of the House of Representatives since 1997. China considers the island its part and does not allow interference in its situation.
