In an interview with Al Jazeera, a senior Iranian official indicated that “our response to the European proposal is realistic and professional and includes important remarks to protect our interests.”

He explained: “We are waiting for a response to our comments on the European proposal by the end of tomorrow, Wednesday,” stressing that “America’s flexibility is now required with regard to our comments on the European proposal.”

The official stressed, “You could say that deal rates seem relatively high, and that’s positive,” noting that “during the last round of the Vienna talks, we saw an American change and it needs to be immunized for action.”

The European Union has announced that it is “considering” Iran’s response to its proposal to restart the 2015 nuclear deal, which is intended to place limits on Tehran’s nuclear program. Josep Borrell, a spokesman for the bloc’s foreign affairs spokesman, who coordinated talks aimed at bringing Iran and the United States back to an agreement, said the Iranian response was received late Monday night.
