Passengers documented a plane’s hood detaching during takeoff from Seattle-Tacoma Airport in Washington, prompting the plane to return to the airport and make an emergency landing to deal with the incident.
The accident happened in the body of the Alaska Airlines Boeing 737, and one of the passengers recorded this video when the plane took off from the airport.
The plane was scheduled to land in San Diego, California, and was carrying 176 passengers and six crew when it took off from Seattle on Monday morning.
According to the company’s statements to local newspapers, the crew received a report of vibration on the left side of the plane, which forced them to make an emergency landing.
The company said: “The two pilots who operated this flight have over 32 years of combined flying experience, they handled the incident with the utmost professionalism and we greatly appreciate our guests’ patience during the incident.”
The aircraft landed successfully and no injuries were reported among the crew or passengers, while the accident is currently under investigation by the airline.
