The Joint Operational Command in Iraq decided to lift the curfew in Baghdad and the provinces after the supporters of the al-Sadr movement began to leave the streets after the speech of the leader of the movement, Muqtada al-Sadr.

Muqtada al-Sadr pointed out in a statement some time ago, “I apologize to the Iraqi people who have suffered the most from what is happening,” pointing out that “Iraq has now become hostage to corruption and violence,” and explained, “I am now criticizing the Sadrist revolution movement as I criticized the October Revolution” and thank “the security forces that took a position of neutrality with all parties.”

He emphasized that “the Sadrist movement must leave the street within 60 minutes, otherwise I am innocent of them”, noting that “the members of the Popular Mobilization have nothing to do with what is happening, and the movement is disciplined and obedient, and I am innocent of this if he won’t leave Parliament within the hour.”

Al-Sadr clarified that “the supporters of the Sadrist movement should withdraw completely from parliament and cancel the sit-in” and emphasized that “if the factions had been dissolved earlier, as we have repeatedly demanded, we would not have reached the current stage.”
