In a statement from the Executive Secretariat of the Permanent Committee of the Political Commission, the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) claims to have been aware of the results announced on Monday by the president of the CNE, Manuel Pereira da Silva, through public media.

Reiterating that it does not recognize the results of the CNE, until the complaints that are already in its possession are resolved, the party also stated that it was not notified of the decision of the plenary session that endorsed the aforementioned results and did not receive a copy of the computation record. of the final results of the elections of August 24, as established by law.
In this context, it takes the opportunity to inform national and international opinion that, within the legal deadlines, a complaint will be filed that will have the suspensive effects of the declaration of definitive results presented by the CNE,” the statement said.
Finally, UNITA stressed that “it is in the interest of all Angolans that the CNE does not stop collating the summary records of the political parties, the result of the popular will, expressed in the polls, which represents the electoral truth”.
The National Electoral Commission announced on Monday that the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) won the elections in Angola with 51% votes against 44% of UNITA.
