Director of the Middle East Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Kinchak stated that “the cause of the lawsuit against the Jewish Agency (Sakhnot), which began in Moscow, is the systematic violation of laws by the said agency (Sakhnot). “

He pointed out that “in this regard, we consider attempts to dramatize this situation and bring it down on all the many facets of traditionally friendly Russian-Israeli relations unjustified and unpromising.”

The Sakhnot Agency helps Jews immigrate to Israel, works with Jewish communities, organizes educational courses and programs for children and youth.

Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that the case with the Sakhnot agency in Russia is now in the hands of the judiciary.

In turn, Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid pointed out that relations with Russia are important for Israel, but considered the closure of the Sakhnot office in Russia a dangerous event and would affect cooperation with Moscow.
