Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyal is in Germany for a visit in which he hopes to win stronger support and turn the page on recent tensions between Kyiv and Berlin.

Prior to his arrival, Dennis Schmigel, in an interview with a German news agency, mentioned “the tremendous progress that Germany has made” and said: “Initially it only provided protective equipment or safety helmets, now it provides advanced combat operations.” equipment from multiple launch rocket systems and artillery”.

He added: “Of course, we want to get more weapons and equipment as quickly as possible, and we also need to change our philosophy regarding the supply: we must be provided with modern battle tanks,” while his country has so far received equipment mainly old models, indicating “We are waiting for second-generation Abrams tanks from the USA and Leopard 2 tanks from Germany, and Ukraine needs modern tanks.”

He pointed out that “Germany has also announced the delivery of IRIS-T air defense systems to Ukraine”, noting that “his country may request a total of 12 systems to protect its airspace.”
