The lawyer for Cristina Kerchner, the Argentine vice president who was assassinated Thursday evening, said Sunday that the gunman who was arrested at the scene “did not act alone.”
“He didn’t act alone, because there were preparatory events for the assassination. Other people were undoubtedly aware of the situation,” Gregorio Dalbon told C5N TV without providing any evidence to support his claims.
In a separate statement to the official news agency “Talam”, he emphasized: “In my opinion (the accused) will be more because I know he did not act alone.”
The attorney also confirmed that a formal complaint will be filed on Monday in Kershner’s name so that he, as a civil party, can access the case, pursue findings, offer evidence and experts, and “result in decisions that are He harms to appeal. “
Dalbon also indicated that he would ask the judiciary to hear from someone named Mario.
Shortly after the assassination, Mario announced on television that he had been friends with the suspect since he was a teenager and said that he was “convinced that his intent was to kill Kershner.” He also explained that he had not seen the suspect for 10 months, during which time the suspect was looking for weapons.
According to several judicial sources quoted by Argentinian media, including the official agency Telam, the Argentine police arrested the girlfriend of the assassin of Vice President Cristina Kirchner on Sunday evening as part of the investigation.
According to the same sources, this 23-year-old man was arrested and detained at a station in the Palermo area.
It’s worth noting that seven years after leaving the presidency, the 69-year-old Kerchner, who currently presides over the Senate, remains a key, albeit divisive, figure in Argentine politics.
Kershner is currently on trial for fraud and corruption, and the prosecution has requested a 12-year prison sentence and a lifetime ban on his right to participate in elections.
Kirchner claims that he is the victim of a “political trial”, thus effectively calling for the mobilization of his Peronist left movement and a number of demonstrations in his support.
On Thursday night, as Kershner was greeting fans outside his home, a man a few feet away pointed a gun at him.
Soon after, President Alberto Fernandez confirmed that for unknown reasons no shots had been fired, even though the weapon was a feeder.
The attacker, who was immediately arrested, is a 35-year-old Brazilian who has lived in Argentina since childhood. His motive is still unclear.
