The Malian Army General Command announced that “since the last weekly statement on 20 August 2022, Malian forces have consolidated tactical gains through field operations against terrorists as part of Maliko operations in the center and south of the country”, explaining that the operations were directed against armed groups in areas of the country of Duenza, Boni, Timbuktu, Segou and Tsetse, which made it possible to neutralize at least 125 militants, as well as arrest 18 more and collect a large amount of ammunition and weapons.

The statement stated that “Malian forces engaged in heavy fighting with an armed terrorist group in the Tissit sector, as a result of which two members of the Malian forces were killed, 8 wounded and 44 terrorists were neutralized. Nara, which led to the neutralization of about 50 militants, the burning of 20 motorcycles, and many wounded.

The Malian Army General Command announced the neutralization of 90 militants and the confiscation of a large number of weapons in the course of its operations since August 4 last year. On August 9, the Malian army received 12 military aircraft from Russia as part of its support to the Malian authorities in the fight against terrorism.
