US President Joe Biden will commemorate the 21st anniversary of the September 11 attacksnext Sunday, with the laying of a wreath at the Pentagon, the White House said Tuesday.
Joe Biden will also speak at the US Department of Defense headquarters.
The day will serve to remember the terrorist attacks of 2001, when hijackers took control of four planes to use as missiles, colliding with the world trade center (New York), the Pentagon (Washington) and a field in Pennsylvania.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the al-Qaeda attacks. The United States and its allies responded with a war in Afghanistan.
First lady Jill Biden will speak Sunday at the National Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband are heading to New York to attend a ceremony at the National 9/11 Memorial.
