The Israeli head of government is scheduled to meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.
In recent weeks, faced with the prospect of a return to the nuclear pact with Tehran, Israel has embarked on diplomatic efforts and stepped up its international campaign.
He recently sent Defense Minister Benny Gantz or the head of the Mossad secret service agency to the United States to speak with the administration of President Joe Biden.
Israel sees Iran as its main enemy, opposing any deal and ensuring that the Islamic republic continues to aim for nuclear weapons.
The country “is carrying out a successful diplomatic campaign to stop the nuclear agreement and prevent the lifting of sanctions against Iran,” the head of the Israeli government said on Sunday.
Yair Lapid added that “there is still a long way to go, but there are already signs of encouragement”, referring to the loss of strength in the negotiations for the return to the pact in recent weeks.
The nuclear agreement was signed by Iran, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Russia, China and the United States in 2015 and limited Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for lifting sanctions against the Persian country.
