Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a telephone conversation with UN Secretary General António Guterres on Wednesday, discussed the transportation of Ukrainian grain, the export of food products and Russian fertilizers, the Kremlin press service reported.

In the Russian chairman, the Kremlin indicated that “a telephone conversation took place between Russian President Vladimir Putin and UN Secretary General António Guterres. The main attention was paid to the implementation of the package of Istanbul agreements on the transportation of Ukrainian grain from the Black Sea ports and the export of Russian food products and fertilizers.

And she noted in her statement: “Guterres informed Putin in detail about the efforts of the UN General Secretariat and specialized agencies to remove all obstacles to the supply of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers to world markets, indicating his full commitment to solving this problem. The importance of continuing close cooperation between Russia and the relevant UN structures in order to ensure global food security.

“The parties focused on the importance of meeting the needs of the countries of Africa, the Middle East and Latin America with food products and giving them priority attention,” the Kremlin said.

He stressed that “Putin and the UN Secretary General also discussed the situation around the Zaporozhye NPP, including in the context of the results of the visit of the mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency, which took place on September 1. Vladimir Putin gave a positive assessment of the constructive cooperation with the Agency and informed Guterres about the measures taken by Russia to ensure the safety and security of the plant facilities.”
