A student was killed by police outside a high school in Wisconsin, northern United States, after authorities received a report of an armed person, the state’s attorney general said. Josh Kaul’s remarks came Wednesday night at a meeting of authorities about the shootings that sent children fleeing Mount Horeb High School and caused local schools to close for hours, according to the Associated news agency. A shooter who never entered the building “was neutralized” outside the school, authorities said. “This incident occurred outside (the school). The individual in this case never managed to enter,” Kaul said, indicating that there were no injuries.
Authorities present at the meeting described the student as a young man, without providing age or other information about the school he attended.
Kaul, however, declined to answer questions about what happened after the police response.including whether the student fired a weapon, what type of weapon he was carrying, and whether he forced entry into the school institution.
Authorities said several Mount Horeb officers wearing body cameras fired weapons, without specifying how many.
Police remained on the scene hours after the incident and students remained locked in the buildings until late afternoon before being released to reunite with their families.
