WhatsApp will soon stop working on some devices

Meta has decided to stop the WhatsApp application on some smartphones for older versions of Android and iOS operating systems from next month.

Facebook-owned Meta typically unlocks updates for older iOS and Android versions every time a new update is released.

To update the WhatsApp app, it must be at least Android 4.1 to update the app, and this change will happen after November 24, and most newer smartphones can only update their operating system to continue using WhatsApp.

For the app to work on your iPhone, you need at least iOS 12 to continue using WhatsApp, and the devices the app depends on are iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c.

WhatsApp is currently developing a new feature that will allow users to edit their sent text messages, and it is not clear if there is a specific time limit for editing sent text messages.

WhatsApp polls customers on which versions to stop updating, so every year, like other tech companies, it looks at older hardware and software that fewer people still use.

In order to keep the apps secure, WhatsApp is dropping support for older smartphone systems, which requires constant work and updates from developers.
