Iran’s oil within the scope of US sanctions!

The US Treasury Department imposed new sanctions against Iran and targeted 10 companies and an oil tanker related to Tehran.

Before announcing this news, an American official revealed that the United States plans to embargo Iran’s oil exports.

The official confirmed a Bloomberg report that said the sanctions would target entities that facilitate oil trade and would be part of a broader plan to tighten sanctions against Tehran in the coming weeks.

And last September, a group of members of the US House of Representatives from both the Republican and Democratic parties introduced legislation that would tighten US sanctions against Tehran.

Titled the Iran Sanctions Consolidation Act (SISA), the law creates the necessary deterrence by targeting the country’s energy sector and making it more difficult to finance terrorist operations or develop ballistic missiles.

The new sanctions come as President Joe Biden’s administration, albeit with less optimism, remains clinging to discussions on the final details of a new nuclear deal with Iran.

On August 8, 2022, after long and complex rounds of negotiations that began in Vienna last April (2021) and lasted for 16 months, the European Union presented the final text to break the deadlock of reviving the agreement.

The European coordinator of the nuclear talks, Josef Borrell, received Iran’s first response in mid-August, followed by the US response to Iran’s observations and demands, which later jeopardized Tehran’s response to the talks.
