A dismembered body, found in France, corresponds to that of a Portuguese woman residing in Luxembourg. The information about the woman’s nationality was confirmed by the Luxembourg Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) to the Portuguese-language newspaper Contacto. “Indeed, there are indications that the victim was of Portuguese nationality and lived in the Grand Duchy”, confirmed the MP and added that the case is under investigation. “At this time, we can’t say anything more,” he revealed.
The victim, who was between 20 and 35 years old, was found by the French authorities on September 19 together with an abandoned building in the city of Mont-Saint-Martin, next to the border, with Luxembourg. The discovery was made by a teenager, and the owner of a bar in the city called the police after alerting the young man.
The process of identifying the victim was hampered by the fact that the head was not next to the body, and the authorities published photographs of the tattoos present on the corpse in an attempt to identify it. In the days after the discovery, Videos of the body were shared on social media in France and Luzxenburg..
The prosecutor responsible for the case said the absence of blood at the scene suggests the woman was likely “dismembered elsewhere” and then taken to Mont-Saint-Martin.
