Experts have warned that the short coronation of Britain’s new king, Charles III, will miss an opportunity to promote Britain on the world stage.
According to the English newspaper “Dail Mail”, this was published after reports that the new British king would prefer to shorten his coronation in terms of time and guests.
Charles III is said to be planning to complete the party in just one hour instead of 3, reducing the guest list from 8,000 to just 2,000.
8,000 guests attended the coronation of the late Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.
Historians say the king’s coronation may be a missed opportunity to exercise the monarchy’s soft power in Britain if it is cut short.
This event will not be held this year, but in 2023.
Historian Andrew Roberts believes the coronation, which is expected to take place in the summer of next year, could be much needed by the country after a winter affected by the cost of living crisis and the Ukraine war.
He added: Coronation happens once in every generation and if it is really shortened, it will have the opposite result.
He said that this occasion is an opportunity to represent the people and the government on the world stage and it is sad to lose this opportunity.
