After being in Portugal, Lula da Silva underwent laryngeal surgery

The president-elect of Brazil, Lula da Silva, held, on Sunday, a surgical intervention to the larynxthe day after being in Portugal, where he met Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and António Costa.

On his personal Twitter account, Lula da Silva published a medical report from the Sírio-Libanês Hospital. “The president-elect entered yesterday [no domingo] to perform a laryngoscopy for the elimination of leukopathy of the left vocal cord”.

At stake was an injury to the larynx —derived from wear and inflammation of the organ’s tissue— which had been detected, according to the Brazilian press, on November 12 after a routine examination carried out by Lula da Silva.

This lesion in the larynx, which could be cancerous, turned out to be benign: “The procedure did not show neoplasia.” Therefore, Lula da Silva was discharged this Monday morning. “Already at home, after a small procedure. Everything resolved and well, ”wrote the president-elect of Brazil on his Twitter account.

Let us remember that Lula da Silva already suffered from laryngeal cancer in 2011, having to undergo more than 30 chemotherapy sessions. The president-elect ended up being cured of the disease.
