The European Newspaper Awards, which recognize the best in European newspaper design, honored the Observer in two Online Innovation categories: Films and Media Narrative.

The 24th edition of the awards had the participation of 138 newspapers from 22 European countries. More than 4,000 entries were submitted across the contest’s 19 categories, in what is one of the largest contests in design of newspapers in the world. The Grand Prix for the best newspapers of the year went to publications from Norway, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

The prizes were awarded by a group of 15 judges, from nine countries (including Portugal). The award ceremony is scheduled for June 21-22, 2023 and will take place in Vienna, Austria.????????

The European Newspaper Awards were created in 1999 by the German newspaper graphic designer and researcher Norbert Küpper, and aim to “improve the exchange of information on concepts and design of printed and online newspapers”, distinguishing the best works carried out in this area.
