Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan will lead the delegation for the inauguration of Lula da Silva as Brazil’s president on Sunday, with the aim of giving “new impetus” to the association between the two powers, Beijing announced.
The announcement was made this Thursday in Beijing by the deputy director of the Information Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Wenbin, who described Brazil and China as “large developing countries and major emerging markets” and “integral strategic partners of each other”.
“The comprehensive and strategic nature of our association has become increasingly pronounced and its global influence is continuously increasing,” he stressed.
We believe that this visit will give a strong impetus to our comprehensive strategic partnership and take it to new heights, bringing more benefits to both countries and peoples and contributing to regional and global peace, stability and prosperity,” the Chinese official stressed.
According to Lula da Silva’s team, on January 1, 2023, in Brasilia, at least 65 foreign delegationsincluding heads of state, vice presidents, heads of diplomacy, special envoys and representatives of international organizations.
At the highest level, at least 19 countries will be represented: Portugal, Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Timor-Leste, Germany, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Honduras, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Togo, Uruguay and the King of Spain.
