The 13 rebel soldiers who refused to accompany a Russian ship incur serious disciplinary sanctions, up to and including imprisonment.
The Navy ordered an inspection of the safety conditions of the Mondego ship, which on Saturday served as an argument for part of the garrison to refuse to embark on a military mission, a Navy source told Lusa.
The inspection was ordered shortly after the incident, which resulted in the fail to track a Russian ship north of Porto Santoas ordered by the naval leadership, added the same source.
The 13 soldiers who refused to board the ship citing “security reasons”, according to a document, were retained on the ship early in the afternoon, a Navy source confirmed to Lusa.

The rebel soldiers incur severe disciplinary sanctions, which can go as far as imprisonmentin accordance with the Rules of Military Discipline.
Issues related to the maintenance of Navy ships, due to lack of funds, as well as the lack of personnel, which forces the military to repeat calls, are the most felt problems in the field, according to the Head of State in the Commission of Defense -Major of the Navy, Admiral Gouveia e Melo.
