Court determines suspension of return of governor after attacks in Brasilia

The justification was related to the omission and collusion of various authorities in the area of ​​security and intelligence verified in the absence of adequate surveillance, allowing about 100 buses with radicals from different parts of the country to arrive in Brasilia, but also for the “inertia in closing the camp” in front of the headquarters in Brasilia, where more than 10,000 people camped who refused to accept the victory of Lula da Silva in the presidential elections.

For his part, the Secretary of Public Security of the Federal District and former Minister of Justice in the government of Jair Bolsonaro, Anderson Torres, still in prison since January 14 for his alleged “omission” in the assault on the country’s capital as security secretary in Brasilia.

Earlier in the week, the STF ordered the release of another 130 people suspected of involvement in the January 8 attacks, a figure that indicates that more than a thousand people have been released, although they remain under surveillance.

Of the approximately 2,200 radicals arrested for invading and vandalizing buildings in Brasilia, only 392 remain in prison, almost all men.

According to information released by the STF, those released must wear an electronic bracelet, cannot leave the house at night or use social networks, and are prohibited from having contact with other detainees.
