Ukrainian intelligence services said explosions heard Monday in Crimea destroyed Russian Kalibr cruise missiles, which were being transported by train.
A series of explosions were reported overnight Monday in the city of Dzhankoi on the Crimean peninsula.
Ukrainian intelligence services said the explosions destroyed Russian Kalibr cruise missiles, which were being transported by train. Ukraine has not claimed responsibility for the incident, instead accusing Russia of preparing “the Ukrainian Crimean peninsula for evacuation.”
“The mysterious explosions continue the process of demilitarizing Russia and preparing the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea for evacuation,” the official Telegram account of the services can be read.

According to the TASS news agency, the Russian Governor of Dzhankoi, Ihor Ivin, said that Dzhankoi was attacked by drones and that a 33-year-old man was injured during the attack. He was transported to the hospital, with no life-threatening injuries to him. Ivin further claimed that several buildings, including a school, were affected by a fire and that the power grid was damaged.
Crimea was annexed by Russia in 2014. With the start of the Russian invasion on February 24 last year, the Ukrainian authorities assured that the entire territory will be liberated from Russian occupation, including Crimea.
