The Sudanese Armed Forces Western Regional Command has announced that it has consolidated all its troops and military equipment into the Rapid Support Forces and opened its headquarters and base against the “remnants of the defunct regime”.
“The Western Command of the Armed Forces followed the course of events that culminated in bloody clashes where the best of the Sudanese youth lost their lives in mock battles between the army and the Rapid Support Forces,” said command in a statement.
In the statement, “In order to shed innocent blood and protect the motherland, the Armed Forces Western Regional Command announces that it will join the Riot Forces with all its soldiers and equipment, and the headquarters and based on this will be opened. To deal with the remnants of the defunct regime, which is preparing to return to power through the door of the Armed Forces.”
On the morning of Saturday, April 15, in Khartoum, a sudden conflict broke out between army forces led by Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces loyal to his former ally, Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo. The conflict between them ended up in an armed conflict.
Earlier today, on Sunday, the Rapid Support Forces announced that they had taken control of the Republic Palace and the army personnel fled, leaving behind weapons, military equipment and armored vehicles.
And through his Twitter account, he reported that his members destroyed the armored vehicles of the offensive forces in Khartoum, and added a video clip documenting the burning of one of the armored vehicles.
