British Armed Forces Chief of Staff Mike Wigston has warned that Russia will become more vindictive if it is defeated in the Ukraine war and pose a direct threat to London.

Speaking to the Telegraph newspaper, Wigston highlighted the air, sea and submarine capabilities of the Russian Armed Forces, something that not only the British authorities, but also the Atlantic Alliance, must pay attention to.

“When the conflict in Ukraine ends and Ukraine restores its borders, as it should, we will have a wounded, vengeful and brutal Russia, whose means of harming us are air strikes, missile strikes and submarine attacks,” Wigston warned.

Likewise, the military high command warned that the problem is not only Russian President Vladimir Putin, since in Russia there are countless people who hope to be able to take the reins of the country and who “could be just as brutal and perverse.”

Putin he is a dictator who is prepared to wage a brutal war in the name of what Russia, in his opinion, should be,” he said.

Wigston’s statements, who will leave office next month, recall the positions defended by French President Emmanuel Macron during the first days of the war in Ukraine, when he called for a solution without “humiliating Russia.”

The French president then emerged as the main promoter of a diplomatic solution to the conflict. During a trip to China recently, Macron advocated for Beijing to use its influence on Moscow to move towards peace.
