The Council of Ministers approved the agreement between Portugal and the United Kingdom that recognizes the mutual exchange of driving licenses. The exchange had ended with the United Kingdom’s departure from the European Union.
The Council of Ministers approved this Thursday the agreement between Portugal and the United Kingdom that mutually recognizes the exchange of driving licenses, which had previously ended with the British exit from the European Union (Brexit).
“The decree approving the Agreement between the Portuguese Republic and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on mutual recognition of effects of driving and exchanging driving licenses”says a statement released after the executive meeting.
With this agreement, driving licenses issued by issuing entities in both countries will be mutually recognized.
After Brexit, the system of driving licenses issued by Member States of the European Union or the European Economic Area no longer applies in the United Kingdom.
In the same session of the Council of Ministers, the Economic Cooperation Agreement between the Portuguese Republic and the Republic of Moldova was approved, the objective of which is to develop and strengthen economic cooperation between both States.
The objective of the agreement is to “intensify and diversify bilateral economic relations on a mutually beneficial basis,” the Council of Ministers stated.
